RNPP-311
Voltage, phase imbalance and phase sequence relay

Applications

The RNPP-311 is designed to provide load 380V/50Hz de-energization when the duration of unallowable voltage variations in the mains is 0.02 sec and more, when there is the mains voltage peak asymmetry fault (phase imbalance), phase loss and phase reversal.

RNPP-311
  1. control for Umax/Umin setting;
  2. red LED “Fault”;
  3. three green LEDs indicating that voltage is present on a corresponding phase;
  4. input contacts;
  5. output contacts.

Description

The relay is connected in parallel to load by input contacts (L1, L2, L3, N). There are two groups of independent two-way break-before-make contacts ( 1-2-3 , 4-5-6 ) at the relay output. In the “dead status " of the relay (the relay is not alive or it's not connected) the1-2(4-5) areN.C. (normally closed) contacts and the5-6(2-3) areN.O. (normally open) contacts. When the relay is connected in parallel to load and voltage is present in the mains as well as there is no cause for the relay to trip, the contacts1-2 (4-5) open and the contacts5-6 (2-3) close.

It is recommended to connect the contacts5-6 (2-3) in series with a starter coil power.

When the relay trips, the load is de-energized by the break in the magnetic starter coil power circuit through the N.O. contacts5-6(2-3).

The 1-2-3 , 4-5-6 output contacts specification

When the relay trips the front-panel red « Fault » LED indicator glows on fault. The red LED will always be ON when the 5-6(2-3) contacts are open. Each of three green LED indicators on the front panel is signaling that voltage is present on the phase corresponding to this LED: if there is a phase loss the corresponding green LED indicator goes out (the red LED switches ON and the relay will trip for the phase loss).

The relay has one combined adjustable trip setting for the maximum/minimum voltage threshold. For instance, if the setting is 10%, the relay will trip when the voltage drops/ exceeds 10% of nominal voltage.

The adjustable trip setting is set by user. It's recommended to set the setting before energizing the relay or when the MS is de-energized. On energizing of the relay the load is energized after 5 (0,10, 60, 100,150, 200,250 – on order) sec delay has expired.

Features

  • self-powered by the three-phase voltage to be monitored;
  • voltage signals are digitalized;
  • due to digital technology the adjustable and fixed trip settings of the relay are calibrated quite accurate and don’t depend on environment factors, so the relay doesn’t call for additional adjustments and controller settings;
  • the accurate voltage adjustment over a broad range;
  • the range of adjustable & fixed setting values can be changed at the customer’s request;
  • momentary de-energization without delay when voltage drops more than 30V below Umin threshold;
  • accelerated tripping (< 0.02 sec) when an abrupt voltage jump more than 60% exceeds nominal voltage;
  • magnetic starter coil supply circuit and power circuits are conductively isolated;
  • indication of voltage presence on each phase; indication of tripping on fault conditions;
  • hysteresis for Umax/Umin is within 6-7V;
  • operate capability range is 30-150% of nominal voltage when at least one phase is present;
  • mounted on a standard DIN rail;
  • compactness and small weight.
